Longtime LPN Retires after 29 Years of Service - Carthage Area Hospital

Carthage Area Hospital Celebrates Nancy Brown

On Tuesday, September 29th, 2020, longtime Carthage Hospital LPN Nancy Brown was celebrated. After 29 years of dedicated service, Brown has decided to retire. Brown said she has worked in “every department,” from the Emergency Room, the former Skilled Nursing Unit, Medical/Surgical, among others. Her most recent department was the hospital’s Acute Inpatient Unit (AIU). A socially-distanced retirement ceremony was held that day with cake and punch, while colleagues and leadership shared well wishes.

“Nancy’s dedication to our organization and the patients she compassionately cared for in our community is second to none. She is an exceptional nurse and employee. We will miss her. Thank you Nancy for all your hard work and service to our organization,” said Steve Olson, RN, Director of Nursing.

When asked why she chose to work for Carthage for as long as she has, she replied, “It’s like family. We’re there to support each other. It’s been a wonderful place to work with a wonderful group of people” said Brown.

“On Nancy’s last day as she’s walking out the door, her final words are going to be, ‘The RN’s have got it from here,’” said Janice Dolan, AIU Team Leader.

Carthage Area Hospital wishes Nancy the best in happiness and health in her retirement.
