Carthage Area Hospital Auxiliary is comprised of men and women volunteers who believe this hospital is an integral part of their communities. Through their efforts, the auxiliary is able to assist in purchasing much needed hospital equipment.
The auxiliary includes in-service volunteers, fundraisers, project volunteers, and inactive members. Memberships continue to be one of the larger fundraisers.
Special money making projects are held throughout the year. In the past, house and garden shows and a Victorian tea were well attended. Also, there is an annual Christmas bazaar/bake sale, angel Christmas ornament memorial tree, geranium sale, chicken barbeque, and fashion show with silent auction. New last year was the highly successful dinner theatre show, "Joey and Maria's Italian Comedy Wedding".
Currently, plans are under way for another dinner theatre show, "Tony Soaprano's Surprise Retirement Party," to be held Saturday October 9 at the Best Western Carriage House Inn in Watertown. This event is by reservation only by calling 493-8024. Also, schedule for Monday November 8, is the harvest dinner with a fashion show at Belva's Sahara Restaurant on Fargo Road in Carthage.
The auxiliary Gift Shop manned by volunteers, continues to provide moderately prices merchandise of unique gifts and collectibles, candy, greeting cards, jewelry, handmade infant sweater sets and various sundries.
The auxiliary presents an opportunity to interact with and meet new people, try out skills, and uncover hidden talents to make valuable, personal contributions to making the hospital the best it can be. How much one volunteers is up to the individual-a few hours a day, week, or month, or on a special project.Giving of oneself has many rewards and personal satisfaction.
If interested in becoming an auxiliary volunteer, please contact the auxiliary president at 493-2207.
