Our Medical Imaging Services

Medical imaging uses several different technologies to provide a window into the human body and help providers diagnose, monitor, and treat medical conditions. At Carthage Area Hospital, we know that imaging is often the first step in diagnosis and are proud to provide our patients with the highest quality of service and equipment for medical imaging. The medical imaging services we offer include:

CT Scans

A CT scan, or computed tomography scan, is a type of medical imaging that uses specialized equipment to produce narrow X-ray beams. These beams result in detailed cross-sectional images of the body that allow for more structures to be viewed and assessed for diagnostic, screening, or treatment purposes. CT scans can be performed anywhere on the body to diagnose disease, detect abnormalities, plan procedures, and monitor the effectiveness of certain therapies. At Carthage Area Hospital, we use a state-of-the-art Philips Ingenuity 128-Slice CT scanner to detect signs of cancer, blood disorders, and more.

Ultrasounds

Ultrasound imaging is a medical tool that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce moving images onto a screen, showing the movements and processes within the body. In an ultrasound exam, the technology helps physicians evaluate, diagnose, and treat medical conditions. At Carthage Area Hospital, we perform ultrasounds using the Philips Affinity 70G for excellent clarity and visualization.

X-Rays

X-Rays are radiographic images obtained by emitting a short X-ray pulse and using a digital detector to capture an image of the body for diagnostic interpretation. They are particularly useful for the detection of diseases and injuries, such as tumors, cancer, and broken bones. At Carthage Area Hospital, we use a GE Optima 646 X-Ray machine to deliver quality images.

MRIs

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is another type of medical imaging that uses strong magnetic fields and radio waves to yield digital images of the internal structures of the body. MRIs help diagnose issues in several body structures, including the bones, ligaments, soft tissues, organs, and cartilage. We perform our MRI scans with the Philips 1.5T MRI to provide detailed results.
