They are working with the hospital staff to establish a "Center of Excellence," for shoulders and upper-extremity orthopedics at Carthage Area Hospital.
Dr. Parnes is the Director of Orthopedics at Carthage Area Hospital and exclusively specializes in shoulder and upper extremity work. He has received national and international awards for excellence in his field. He completed two years of fellowship training in Shoulder, Elbow, and Upper Extremities in the Harvard Shoulder Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He also trained with leading experts in France, England, and Switzerland.
Dr. Parnes is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He has been a member of the Carthage Community for approximately 5 years. He has published multiple papers and co-authored several book chapters on shoulder instability, rotator cuff tears, frozen shoulder, sports injuries, advanced hand treatment, and fracture treatment around the shoulder and upper extremities.
