In an effort to improve patient care, Carthage Family Health Center, which houses Family Practice and Pediatrics, is seeking Community input regarding the possible expansion of clinic hours. Currently, the clinic operates Monday-Thursday 7:00am-5:00pm | Friday 8:00am-12:00pm. The Clinic is located at 117 N. Mechanic St. in Carthage. During the month of October, 3 research articles were published in leading Orthopedic Journals by Carthage Area Hospital’s Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Nata Parnes, along with Surgeons from Fort Drum, University of Massachusetts Medical School, Clarkson University and Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City. These research papers focus on less-invasive advanced surgical techniques for the treatment of complex shoulder instability, bicep tendon instability, and collar bone separation.
1.7 Million Americans are diagnosed with Diabetes each year according to the American Diabetes Association. For patients who are looking for ways to manage their Diabetes, Carthage Area Hospital’s Nutritional Department is introducing a new Diabetes Education Program beginning in December. Registered Dietician, Carly Draper, RDN, CDE and Registered Nurse Molly Pleskach, RN will host their first class on the first Saturday of each month starting on Saturday, December 5 from 9am-2pm at the hospital. Patients will be required to have a referral from their Primary Care Provider. Topics include: Health Eating & Nutrition, Physical Activity & Impact, Benefits of Blood Glucose Monitoring, Medications, and Diabetes & Family.
