Shortly after the New Year, employees at Carthage Area Hospital had an opportunity to participate in a competitive, 12-week nutritional program called “Commit to be fit.” What was previously known as the “Weigh of Life,” program, “Commit to be fit,” required weekly weigh-ins and offered weekly nutritional classes. Participants who lost the most in total inches and percent weight loss were awarded a cash prize. A total of 403.5 lbs. were lost amongst participants.
“If you put good stuff in, you get good stuff out,” Carly Draper, RDN, CDE, Director of Nutrition at Carthage Area Hospital. The community is invited to enjoy a delicious healthy meal with some great information.
A free heart health luncheon, hosted by Carthage Area Hospital, will be offered at the Carthage Elks Club on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at 11:30am.
This is an excellent opportunity to “Know Your Numbers,” which is the title of the presentation by Carly Draper, RDN, CDE. Draper will explain which numbers are high and low to include things like cholesterol, blood pressure, and BMI. Each attendee will receive a wallet insert with information and guidelines for keeping track of those numbers. Draper will also discuss ways to make small dietary changes to improve overall heart health.
